Dagmar van Weeghel made commercials, films and television productions before she founded Nature for Kids in 2002. She has travelled and worked extensively in Africa.
Dagmar completed her studies at the Dutch Film and Television Academy in 1998 and specialized in education. She always had a passion for nature and wildlife. She consequently departed directly after her graduation for Africa in order to participate with various educational projects on conservation. During these projects she observed the impact the films made on the African children. She then decided to set up educative projects for children. This was the beginning of Nature for Kids.
Dagmar commenced with an experimental film in Botswana. This pilot film was so successful that she decided to continue on a much larger scale. Dagmar’s passion was to heighten the awareness of nature through schools in a number of African countries, commencing with Tanzania. Here she produced and directed her first three films for Nature for Kids. Dagmar distributed her films in close co-operation with Roots and Shoots, an initiative by Jane Goodall.
Dagmar continues to manage Nature for Kids from The Netherlands.
