Frans Lanting is one of the most renowned nature photographers of our time. His photos can be admired in books, magazines and exhibitions worldwide. He has photographed all over the world for more than two decades from the Amazon to Antarctica: Nature in relation to Man. His photography has contributed to our awareness (realization) of threatened ecosystems worldwide.
Frans Lanting has published numerous books; some of these titles are as follows: Jungles (2000), Penguin (1999) Living Planet (1999), Eye to Eye (1999) Bonobo, The Forgotten Ape (1997) and Madagascar, A World Out of Time (1990).
Frans Lanting has received many distinctions. In 2001 Prince Bernhard decorated him with a Knighthood, the highest international award specifically directed to conservation, which is the highest distinction of its kind in The Netherlands. This Knighthood was The Orde van de Gouden Ark. He also received the title of BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year. In addition he received the Sierra Club’s Ansel Adams Award. In 1999 he became Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society in London. Frans Lanting resides in Santa Cruz, California with his wife Chris Eckstrom.
