Founder
Dagmar van Weeghel, a passionate Dutch filmmaker and conservationist, founded Nature for Kids in December 2002 after travelling extensively throughout Africa as a “one-woman crew”. When she went to Africa voluntarily to film nature conservation projects and to visit rural schools, she came up with the idea of teaching children that the cycle of poverty and environmental degradation can be broken through sustainable management of their natural resources; using the power of film. The idea was not to produce documentaries; but exciting, 20- minute-long screenplays featuring local schoolchildren , their teachers and their parents, narrated in their native language.
